Australski protuteroristički tim uhitio je u srijedu sedmero tinejdžera povezanih s dječakom optuženim za vjerski motivirani teroristički napad na biskupa u Sydneyu, a još pet osoba je na ispitivanju.

Policija je priopćila da je tim od više od 400 policajaca i pripadnika službi sigurnosti bio uključen u operaciju, u kojoj su uhićeni suradnici 16-godišnjeg dječaka optuženog za teroristički čin. Dječak je nožem izbo asirskog biskupa Mar Mari Emmanuela tijekom crkvene službe koja se prenosila uživo 15. travnja.

Policija je rekla da je privela tinejdžere jer su značili "neprihvatljiv rizik" za društvo. Oni tvrde da su tinejdžeri vjerovali u vjerski motiviranu nasilnu ekstremističku ideologiju. Još pet osoba je na ispitivanju u policiji.

"Nema prijetnje zajednici, a akcija koju smo danas poduzeli ublažila je svaki rizik od buduće ili daljnje štete", rekao je zamjenik povjerenika policije Novog Južnog Walesa, David Hudson, na konferenciji za novinare nakon uhićenja.

Policija je u priopćenju rekla da je operacija u tijeku.

Samo nekoliko dana nakon smrtonosnog masovnog ubadanja nožem u Bondiju, napad na Emmanuela i strahovi od daljnjih napada ili odmazde protiv gradske muslimanske zajednice doveli su inače miran Sydney na rub. Zločini počinjeni oružjem i nožem rijetki su u gradu, jednom od najsigurnijih na svijetu.

Operacija Zajedničkog protuterorističkog tima (JTT), koja je uključivala 13 racija u Sydneyu i regionalnom gradu Goulburnu, bila je zajednički napor državne i savezne policije, kao i domaće obavještajne agencije.

U racijama je zaplijenjena znatna količina elektroničkog materijala, navodi policija u priopćenju.

Glavni šef domaće obavještajne službe u utorak je zatražio od tehnoloških kompanija da mu daju pristup korisničkim porukama u ograničenim okolnostima kako bi se mogao boriti protiv ekstremista.

Australski protuteroristički tim uhitio je u srijedu sedmero tinejdžera povezanih s dječakom optuženim za vjerski motivirani teroristički napad na biskupa u Sydneyu, a još pet osoba je na ispitivanju.

Policija je priopćila da je tim od više od 400 policajaca i pripadnika službi sigurnosti bio uključen u operaciju, u kojoj su uhićeni suradnici 16-godišnjeg dječaka optuženog za teroristički čin. Dječak je nožem izbo asirskog biskupa Mar Mari Emmanuela tijekom crkvene službe koja se prenosila uživo 15. travnja.

Policija je rekla da je privela tinejdžere jer su značili "neprihvatljiv rizik" za društvo. Oni tvrde da su tinejdžeri vjerovali u vjerski motiviranu nasilnu ekstremističku ideologiju. Još pet osoba je na ispitivanju u policiji.

"Nema prijetnje zajednici, a akcija koju smo danas poduzeli ublažila je svaki rizik od buduće ili daljnje štete", rekao je zamjenik povjerenika policije Novog Južnog Walesa, David Hudson, na konferenciji za novinare nakon uhićenja.

Policija je u priopćenju rekla da je operacija u tijeku.

Samo nekoliko dana nakon smrtonosnog masovnog ubadanja nožem u Bondiju, napad na Emmanuela i strahovi od daljnjih napada ili odmazde protiv gradske muslimanske zajednice doveli su inače miran Sydney na rub. Zločini počinjeni oružjem i nožem rijetki su u gradu, jednom od najsigurnijih na svijetu.

Operacija Zajedničkog protuterorističkog tima (JTT), koja je uključivala 13 racija u Sydneyu i regionalnom gradu Goulburnu, bila je zajednički napor državne i savezne policije, kao i domaće obavještajne agencije.

U racijama je zaplijenjena znatna količina elektroničkog materijala, navodi policija u priopćenju.

Glavni šef domaće obavještajne službe u utorak je zatražio od tehnoloških kompanija da mu daju pristup korisničkim porukama u ograničenim okolnostima kako bi se mogao boriti protiv ekstremista.
