National Geographic donosi teorije o porijeklu naziva balkanske regije.

O porijeklu imena našeg poluotoka postoji nekoliko teorija. Najšire je prihvaćena ona po kojoj ime potječe od turske riječi "balkan", koja označava šumovitu goru. Prema toj teoriji, Balkan su imenovali Turci nakon svog dolaska, budući da se ni u jednom ranijem povijesnom izvoru taj naziv ne spominje.

Po jednoj drugoj teoriji regiji su ime dali Bugari u sedmom stoljeću, kad je cijelo područje bilo pod Prvim bugarskim carstvom. U bugarskom jeziku riječ "balkan" znači "planina". 

Mi nismo sami

Postoji još jedan Balkan! Na krajnjem zapadu Turkmenistana nalazi se Balkanski vilajet, odnosno nekadašnja upravna jedinica Osmanskog carstva, koji graniči sa Uzbekistanom, Kazahstanom, Iranom i Kaspijskim morem. Glavni grad ove turkmenistanske provincije je Balkanbat, ranije poznat pod imenom Nebit Dag.

Ovaj Balkan predstavlja značajan izvor energetskih resursa Turkmenistana, budući da 94 posto proizvodnje prirodnog plina, kao i 12 posto naftne proizvodnje ove zemlje, potječe s toga područja.

Ime turkmenistanskog vilajeta također je proizašlo od turske riječi za planinu, budući da regijom dominiraju Balkanske planine.

National Geographic donosi teorije o porijeklu naziva balkanske regije.

O porijeklu imena našeg poluotoka postoji nekoliko teorija. Najšire je prihvaćena ona po kojoj ime potječe od turske riječi "balkan", koja označava šumovitu goru. Prema toj teoriji, Balkan su imenovali Turci nakon svog dolaska, budući da se ni u jednom ranijem povijesnom izvoru taj naziv ne spominje.

Po jednoj drugoj teoriji regiji su ime dali Bugari u sedmom stoljeću, kad je cijelo područje bilo pod Prvim bugarskim carstvom. U bugarskom jeziku riječ "balkan" znači "planina". 

Mi nismo sami

Postoji još jedan Balkan! Na krajnjem zapadu Turkmenistana nalazi se Balkanski vilajet, odnosno nekadašnja upravna jedinica Osmanskog carstva, koji graniči sa Uzbekistanom, Kazahstanom, Iranom i Kaspijskim morem. Glavni grad ove turkmenistanske provincije je Balkanbat, ranije poznat pod imenom Nebit Dag.

Ovaj Balkan predstavlja značajan izvor energetskih resursa Turkmenistana, budući da 94 posto proizvodnje prirodnog plina, kao i 12 posto naftne proizvodnje ove zemlje, potječe s toga područja.

Ime turkmenistanskog vilajeta također je proizašlo od turske riječi za planinu, budući da regijom dominiraju Balkanske planine.

National Geographic donosi teorije o porijeklu naziva balkanske regije.

O porijeklu imena našeg poluotoka postoji nekoliko teorija. Najšire je prihvaćena ona po kojoj ime potječe od turske riječi "balkan", koja označava šumovitu goru. Prema toj teoriji, Balkan su imenovali Turci nakon svog dolaska, budući da se ni u jednom ranijem povijesnom izvoru taj naziv ne spominje.

Po jednoj drugoj teoriji regiji su ime dali Bugari u sedmom stoljeću, kad je cijelo područje bilo pod Prvim bugarskim carstvom. U bugarskom jeziku riječ "balkan" znači "planina". 

Mi nismo sami

Postoji još jedan Balkan! Na krajnjem zapadu Turkmenistana nalazi se Balkanski vilajet, odnosno nekadašnja upravna jedinica Osmanskog carstva, koji graniči sa Uzbekistanom, Kazahstanom, Iranom i Kaspijskim morem. Glavni grad ove turkmenistanske provincije je Balkanbat, ranije poznat pod imenom Nebit Dag.

Ovaj Balkan predstavlja značajan izvor energetskih resursa Turkmenistana, budući da 94 posto proizvodnje prirodnog plina, kao i 12 posto naftne proizvodnje ove zemlje, potječe s toga područja.

Ime turkmenistanskog vilajeta također je proizašlo od turske riječi za planinu, budući da regijom dominiraju Balkanske planine.
