Povodom Dana sjećanja na žrtvu Vukovara i Škabrnje koji se od prošle godine slavi kao državni praznik, Općinski načelnik Luka Perinić u pratnji suradnika položio je vijenac i svijeće podno središnjeg križa na mjesnom groblju u Vrsima. Molitvu odrješenja za sve nedužne civile, te branitelje koji su svoj život položili na oltar Domovine predvodio je župnik don Ivica Bašić. Načelnik Perinić kratko se osvrnuo na važnost odavanja počasti svim žrtvama rata. 

- Danas svoj pogled usmjeravamo prema žrtvi koju su podnijeli stanovnici Vukovara i Škabrnje prije 30 godina. Također, prisjećamo se svih branitelja i nedužnih civila koji su kroz cijeli rat izgubili svoje živote kako bi mi danas živjeli u slobodnoj i neovisnoj Domovini. Teško je i zamisliti koliko života je uništeno kroz period rata i koliko ljudi je ostalo bez svojih najmilijih. Ne ponovilo se više nigdje, istaknuo je Luka Perinić.

Zamjenik povjerenika Sindikata hrvatskih branitelja Ivan Božić, koji je na prvoj crti bojišnice proveo preko tri godine prisjetio se osjećaja koji su prevladavali na taj tužan dan prije trideset godina. 

- Kad smo saznali da su pali Vukovar i Škabrnja, vladala je tuga i jad. Ratni dani su općenito bili ispunjeni stalnom napetošću, a prva crta bojišnice gdje sam i sam bio nije imala milosti. Znalo se dogoditi da čujemo disanje u blizini, a ne znamo procijeniti što je, je l' neprijatelj ili neka životinja. Naša dužnost je pokloniti se žrtvi koju su podnijeli branitelji za slobodu hrvatskog naroda, govori nam Ivan „s knedlom u grlu“. 

Bitka za Vukovar, u kojoj je sudjelovalo oko 1800 branitelja, započela je 25. kolovoza, a završila 18. studenoga 1991. godine. Do tragičnog sloma obrane grada poginule su 1624, a ranjeno više od 2500 osoba. U koncentracijske logore odvedeno je oko 7000 zarobljenih branitelja i civila, a iz grada je prognano oko 22 tisuće njegovih stanovnika. Na popisu zatočenih i nestalih osoba iz Domovinskog rata još je nekoliko stotina osoba s vukovarskog područja. Uz žrtvu Vukovara, prisjećamo se i pokolja 43 hrvatska civila u Škabrnji koji su istoga dana 1991. godine počinili pripadnici JNA-a i srpski pobunjenici, koji su Škabrnju po okončanju napada spalili i u potpunosti uništili, a katoličku crkvu do temelja srušili. Nakon što je selo opustošeno, cijeli je kraj miniran. Oni civili koji su bili pošteđeni, kasnije su predani hrvatskoj strani u mjestu Pristeg, a muškarci su zatočeni u kninskim logorima te kasnije razmijenjeni.

Povodom Dana sjećanja na žrtvu Vukovara i Škabrnje koji se od prošle godine slavi kao državni praznik, Općinski načelnik Luka Perinić u pratnji suradnika položio je vijenac i svijeće podno središnjeg križa na mjesnom groblju u Vrsima. Molitvu odrješenja za sve nedužne civile, te branitelje koji su svoj život položili na oltar Domovine predvodio je župnik don Ivica Bašić. Načelnik Perinić kratko se osvrnuo na važnost odavanja počasti svim žrtvama rata. 

- Danas svoj pogled usmjeravamo prema žrtvi koju su podnijeli stanovnici Vukovara i Škabrnje prije 30 godina. Također, prisjećamo se svih branitelja i nedužnih civila koji su kroz cijeli rat izgubili svoje živote kako bi mi danas živjeli u slobodnoj i neovisnoj Domovini. Teško je i zamisliti koliko života je uništeno kroz period rata i koliko ljudi je ostalo bez svojih najmilijih. Ne ponovilo se više nigdje, istaknuo je Luka Perinić.

Zamjenik povjerenika Sindikata hrvatskih branitelja Ivan Božić, koji je na prvoj crti bojišnice proveo preko tri godine prisjetio se osjećaja koji su prevladavali na taj tužan dan prije trideset godina. 

- Kad smo saznali da su pali Vukovar i Škabrnja, vladala je tuga i jad. Ratni dani su općenito bili ispunjeni stalnom napetošću, a prva crta bojišnice gdje sam i sam bio nije imala milosti. Znalo se dogoditi da čujemo disanje u blizini, a ne znamo procijeniti što je, je l' neprijatelj ili neka životinja. Naša dužnost je pokloniti se žrtvi koju su podnijeli branitelji za slobodu hrvatskog naroda, govori nam Ivan „s knedlom u grlu“. 

Bitka za Vukovar, u kojoj je sudjelovalo oko 1800 branitelja, započela je 25. kolovoza, a završila 18. studenoga 1991. godine. Do tragičnog sloma obrane grada poginule su 1624, a ranjeno više od 2500 osoba. U koncentracijske logore odvedeno je oko 7000 zarobljenih branitelja i civila, a iz grada je prognano oko 22 tisuće njegovih stanovnika. Na popisu zatočenih i nestalih osoba iz Domovinskog rata još je nekoliko stotina osoba s vukovarskog područja. Uz žrtvu Vukovara, prisjećamo se i pokolja 43 hrvatska civila u Škabrnji koji su istoga dana 1991. godine počinili pripadnici JNA-a i srpski pobunjenici, koji su Škabrnju po okončanju napada spalili i u potpunosti uništili, a katoličku crkvu do temelja srušili. Nakon što je selo opustošeno, cijeli je kraj miniran. Oni civili koji su bili pošteđeni, kasnije su predani hrvatskoj strani u mjestu Pristeg, a muškarci su zatočeni u kninskim logorima te kasnije razmijenjeni.

Povodom Dana sjećanja na žrtvu Vukovara i Škabrnje koji se od prošle godine slavi kao državni praznik, Općinski načelnik Luka Perinić u pratnji suradnika položio je vijenac i svijeće podno središnjeg križa na mjesnom groblju u Vrsima.
