Borna Ćorić (ATP - 29.) se pridružio Marinu Čiliću u drugom kolu US Opena, ali je za pobjedu protiv francuskog kvalifikanta Enza Couacauda (ATP - 193.) morao naporno raditi četiri sata i pet minuta, da bi na kraju slavio sa 6-2, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 4-6, 7-5 preokrenuvši zaostatak od 3-5 u zadnjem setu. 

Borna Ćorić je rutinski osvojio prva dva seta ne dopustivši suparniku da stvori ijednu priliku za oduzimanje servisa. Ništa nije upućivalo na to da bi se taj dvoboj mogao pretvoriti u dramu koja je za hrvatskog tenisača, ipak, imala sretan završetak.

Velikim preokretom, u kojem je 27-godišnji Francuz uspio dvaput oduzeti servis Ćoriću u trećem setu, pa još jednom u četvrtom, i tako dovesti meč do petog seta, Couacaud je u odlučujućoj dionici poveo sa 5-3 nakon što je po peti put u meču napravio "break".

No, tada je ovogodišnji pobjednik Mastersa u Cincinnatiju pokazao svoju igračku veličinu, staloženost i mirnoću te nastavio pobjednički niz. U sljedeća četiri gema Couacaud je osvojio svega dva poena čime je propustio priliku za najveću pobjedu u karijeri.

Borna je jednostavno prestao griješiti, donosio je odlične odluke i razoružao Francuza koji je malo pao pod pritiskom rezultata, a ulogu je odigrala i fizička iscrpljenost u završnici četverosatnog meča.

Ćorić je tako spriječio da mu se dogodi prvi poraz u karijeri nakon što je imao prednost od dva seta te se pridružio Marinu Čiliću u drugom kolu. Čilić je lakoćom svladao Nijemca Maximiliana Marterera sa 6-3, 6-2, 7-5.

Ćorića u drugom kolu čeka 21-godišnja domaća nada Jenson Brooksby (ATP - 43.), kojemu je Srbin Dušan Lajović predao meč u trenutku kad je Amerikanac vodio sa 6-2, 6-0, 3-0. Bit će to njihov prvi međuosbni dvoboj.

Za razliku od Borne, Marin će u 2. kolu igrati protiv dobro mu poznatog suparnika, 34-godišnjeg Španjolca Alberta Ramos-Vinolasa (ATP - 42.) koji je sa 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 bio bolji od Slovaka Norberta Gomboša. Čiliću i Ramos-Vinolasu će to biti 11. međusobni dvoboj, a Marin ima prednost od 7-3. Hrvatski tenisač je slavio u posljednja tri dvoboja odigrana ove i prošle godine, a pobijedio je ljevorukog Španjolca i u njihovom jedinom meču na Grand Slam turnirima, na Australian Openu 2016. kad je bilo 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (4) za Čilića.

Borna Ćorić (ATP - 29.) se pridružio Marinu Čiliću u drugom kolu US Opena, ali je za pobjedu protiv francuskog kvalifikanta Enza Couacauda (ATP - 193.) morao naporno raditi četiri sata i pet minuta, da bi na kraju slavio sa 6-2, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 4-6, 7-5 preokrenuvši zaostatak od 3-5 u zadnjem setu. 

Borna Ćorić je rutinski osvojio prva dva seta ne dopustivši suparniku da stvori ijednu priliku za oduzimanje servisa. Ništa nije upućivalo na to da bi se taj dvoboj mogao pretvoriti u dramu koja je za hrvatskog tenisača, ipak, imala sretan završetak.

Velikim preokretom, u kojem je 27-godišnji Francuz uspio dvaput oduzeti servis Ćoriću u trećem setu, pa još jednom u četvrtom, i tako dovesti meč do petog seta, Couacaud je u odlučujućoj dionici poveo sa 5-3 nakon što je po peti put u meču napravio "break".

No, tada je ovogodišnji pobjednik Mastersa u Cincinnatiju pokazao svoju igračku veličinu, staloženost i mirnoću te nastavio pobjednički niz. U sljedeća četiri gema Couacaud je osvojio svega dva poena čime je propustio priliku za najveću pobjedu u karijeri.

Borna je jednostavno prestao griješiti, donosio je odlične odluke i razoružao Francuza koji je malo pao pod pritiskom rezultata, a ulogu je odigrala i fizička iscrpljenost u završnici četverosatnog meča.

Ćorić je tako spriječio da mu se dogodi prvi poraz u karijeri nakon što je imao prednost od dva seta te se pridružio Marinu Čiliću u drugom kolu. Čilić je lakoćom svladao Nijemca Maximiliana Marterera sa 6-3, 6-2, 7-5.

Ćorića u drugom kolu čeka 21-godišnja domaća nada Jenson Brooksby (ATP - 43.), kojemu je Srbin Dušan Lajović predao meč u trenutku kad je Amerikanac vodio sa 6-2, 6-0, 3-0. Bit će to njihov prvi međuosbni dvoboj.

Za razliku od Borne, Marin će u 2. kolu igrati protiv dobro mu poznatog suparnika, 34-godišnjeg Španjolca Alberta Ramos-Vinolasa (ATP - 42.) koji je sa 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 bio bolji od Slovaka Norberta Gomboša. Čiliću i Ramos-Vinolasu će to biti 11. međusobni dvoboj, a Marin ima prednost od 7-3. Hrvatski tenisač je slavio u posljednja tri dvoboja odigrana ove i prošle godine, a pobijedio je ljevorukog Španjolca i u njihovom jedinom meču na Grand Slam turnirima, na Australian Openu 2016. kad je bilo 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (4) za Čilića.

Pridružio se Marinu Čiliću: Borna Ćorić završnim preokretom spriječio senzaciju i ušao u drugo kolo!

Borna Ćorić (ATP - 29.) se pridružio Marinu Čiliću u drugom kolu US Opena, ali je za pobjedu protiv francuskog kvalifikanta Enza Couacauda (ATP - 193.) morao naporno raditi četiri sata i pet minuta, da bi na kraju slavio sa 6-2, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 4-6, 7-5 preokrenuvši zaostatak od 3-5 u zadnjem setu. 

Borna Ćorić je rutinski osvojio prva dva seta ne dopustivši suparniku da stvori ijednu priliku za oduzimanje servisa. Ništa nije upućivalo na to da bi se taj dvoboj mogao pretvoriti u dramu koja je za hrvatskog tenisača, ipak, imala sretan završetak.

Velikim preokretom, u kojem je 27-godišnji Francuz uspio dvaput oduzeti servis Ćoriću u trećem setu, pa još jednom u četvrtom, i tako dovesti meč do petog seta, Couacaud je u odlučujućoj dionici poveo sa 5-3 nakon što je po peti put u meču napravio "break".

No, tada je ovogodišnji pobjednik Mastersa u Cincinnatiju pokazao svoju igračku veličinu, staloženost i mirnoću te nastavio pobjednički niz. U sljedeća četiri gema Couacaud je osvojio svega dva poena čime je propustio priliku za najveću pobjedu u karijeri.

Borna je jednostavno prestao griješiti, donosio je odlične odluke i razoružao Francuza koji je malo pao pod pritiskom rezultata, a ulogu je odigrala i fizička iscrpljenost u završnici četverosatnog meča.

Ćorić je tako spriječio da mu se dogodi prvi poraz u karijeri nakon što je imao prednost od dva seta te se pridružio Marinu Čiliću u drugom kolu. Čilić je lakoćom svladao Nijemca Maximiliana Marterera sa 6-3, 6-2, 7-5.

Ćorića u drugom kolu čeka 21-godišnja domaća nada Jenson Brooksby (ATP - 43.), kojemu je Srbin Dušan Lajović predao meč u trenutku kad je Amerikanac vodio sa 6-2, 6-0, 3-0. Bit će to njihov prvi međuosbni dvoboj.

Za razliku od Borne, Marin će u 2. kolu igrati protiv dobro mu poznatog suparnika, 34-godišnjeg Španjolca Alberta Ramos-Vinolasa (ATP - 42.) koji je sa 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 bio bolji od Slovaka Norberta Gomboša. Čiliću i Ramos-Vinolasu će to biti 11. međusobni dvoboj, a Marin ima prednost od 7-3. Hrvatski tenisač je slavio u posljednja tri dvoboja odigrana ove i prošle godine, a pobijedio je ljevorukog Španjolca i u njihovom jedinom meču na Grand Slam turnirima, na Australian Openu 2016. kad je bilo 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (4) za Čilića.
