Mi koji dolazimo iz Gutenbergove galaktike ne možemo vjerovati da ovako golema knjiga nije ni znanstveno ni umjetničko djelo. A nije! Drago Marić nije ni umjetnik, ni znanstvenik. Ne piše ni romane, ni znanstvene studije, ni kritičke analize. Bio je i ostao novinar. Sve su ovo crtice, bilješke, anegdote, citati, osvrti... Nešto kao novinarska bilježnica.

To je to što im daje specifičan stupanj uvjerljivosti i što ih svrstava, na jednoj strani, u potraga za pokidanim korijenima građanskoga identiteta Zadra, a na drugoj strani u sve veće zanimanje zadarske kulturne javnosti za zadarski genius loci. Marić je na tragu onoga što je dr.sc. Antun Travira uočio još 1985. godine kada je pisao kako se „nostalgična potraga za izgubljenim identitetom nekoć sjajnog grada pretvorila (…) u izuzetno zanimanje mladih generacija, koje tražeći vlastiti identitet, pokušavaju se identificirati sa sjajem i značenjem izgubljenog“.

Pri tome, Marić polazi od činjenice da grad gradom čine ljudi, da ljudi tvore i čuvaju identitet grada. Grad je mjesto taloženja različitih doživljaja. Četiri kantuna jesu za Marića lokacija svih lokacija, ali još više od toga - mitsko mjesto susreta i čakula, posebnoga načina razmjene informacija i misli. Bitno je rekonstruirati duh vremena, atmosferu grada. Sjećati se znači ponovno izmišljati.

Sve se to na koncu stapa u simbole kolektivnoga pamćenja, u baštinsku energiju. Jer, kako je već negdje rečeno: “Valorizacija baštine ne može se temeljiti samo na znanstvenom čitanju povijesnih slojeva, nego i na analizi karaktera života građana koji nastanjuju te slojeve baštine”.

Makar se to nazvalo i nostalgijom za spokojem onoga što je prošlo.

Mi koji dolazimo iz Gutenbergove galaktike ne možemo vjerovati da ovako golema knjiga nije ni znanstveno ni umjetničko djelo. A nije! Drago Marić nije ni umjetnik, ni znanstvenik. Ne piše ni romane, ni znanstvene studije, ni kritičke analize. Bio je i ostao novinar. Sve su ovo crtice, bilješke, anegdote, citati, osvrti... Nešto kao novinarska bilježnica.

To je to što im daje specifičan stupanj uvjerljivosti i što ih svrstava, na jednoj strani, u potraga za pokidanim korijenima građanskoga identiteta Zadra, a na drugoj strani u sve veće zanimanje zadarske kulturne javnosti za zadarski genius loci. Marić je na tragu onoga što je dr.sc. Antun Travira uočio još 1985. godine kada je pisao kako se „nostalgična potraga za izgubljenim identitetom nekoć sjajnog grada pretvorila (…) u izuzetno zanimanje mladih generacija, koje tražeći vlastiti identitet, pokušavaju se identificirati sa sjajem i značenjem izgubljenog“.

Pri tome, Marić polazi od činjenice da grad gradom čine ljudi, da ljudi tvore i čuvaju identitet grada. Grad je mjesto taloženja različitih doživljaja. Četiri kantuna jesu za Marića lokacija svih lokacija, ali još više od toga - mitsko mjesto susreta i čakula, posebnoga načina razmjene informacija i misli. Bitno je rekonstruirati duh vremena, atmosferu grada. Sjećati se znači ponovno izmišljati.

Sve se to na koncu stapa u simbole kolektivnoga pamćenja, u baštinsku energiju. Jer, kako je već negdje rečeno: “Valorizacija baštine ne može se temeljiti samo na znanstvenom čitanju povijesnih slojeva, nego i na analizi karaktera života građana koji nastanjuju te slojeve baštine”.

Makar se to nazvalo i nostalgijom za spokojem onoga što je prošlo.
