Rođen je kao Milo Vasić u Splitu 1954. godine, dijete oca Dragutina – također glazbenika – i majke Jasne, pjevačice u operi HNK. Milo je bio jedan od najboljih bubnjara i džezista u bivšoj Jugoslaviji, koji se školovao i u Americi na jazz-akademiji Stanley Spector (NY).

Stavrosu su puno puta tijekom karijere, osobito strašnih ratnih devedesetih, "propitivali" krvna zrnca, nikad nije zamjerio, on je naprosto funkcioniraju na "pogonu ljubavi".

Ovako je to komentirao u velikom intervjuu koji je dao novinarki Slobodne Ivani Kapetanović prije par mjeseci:

"To je bilo jako ružno, kad te optuže za nešto što nisi. Znam ja ko je to, to su moji kolege koji su bili zavidni, ali ja sam se uvijek molio Bogu za njih, opraštao sam im. Moj otac je podrijetlom Rumunj, to je istina, al‘ nema nikakve veze sa Srbijom. Oni kad su došli u Jugoslaviju, prikrstili su se i prominili prezime.

Moj je otac živija u Splitu cili život i svira u HNK-u i sa Srbijom nema ništa, al‘ moji kolege su bili tako nastrojeni. Bojali su se da ne dođem na teren u Ameriku ili Kanadu, al‘ ja san bija strpljiv i čeka da sve dođe na svoje misto i došlo je. Nisan ima nekih velikih problema.

Jedno vrime san živija na Visokoj, a gori su ljudi koji su ekstremni Hrvati, ja san čak ima zabranu nastupanja 88. godine šest miseci, jer san u Zagvozdu piva "Marjane, Marjane".

Onda je došla policija, skupili su me, odveli u zatvor i zabranili su mi nastupe šest miseci. Meni je to bija veliki šok i nezgodna situacija. Tada su me proglasili velikin ustašom. Znači ovde san bija ustaša, a ovde Srbin. Sve je to kao da se djeca igraju nekih čudnih igrica..." - rezimirao je pjevač, nikad s gorčinom.

Rajko Dujmić, suradnik i blizak prijatelj, zaslužan je za njegovo umjetničko ime. Predložio mu je da postane Jasmin Stavros, da ga više ljudi ne prepoznaju kao "bubnjara Milu", nego "pjevača Stavrosa".

Prva pjesma koju je snimio pod novim imenom bila je "E, moj Rajko" 1987. godine. Uslijedile su uspješnice "Umoran" i "Dao bih sto Amerika".

Klavir i kontrabas

Iako je bio percipiran kao "pjevač lakih nota", Stavrosovo obrazovanje bilo je sustavno. Završio je osnovnu glazbenu školu, smjer klavir, potom i Srednju, kad je svladao novi instrument – kontrabas. Pohađao je i privatne satove solo-pjevanja. Istodobno se zaljubljuje u bubnjeve, glazbalo koje najviše odražava njegov temperamentni karakter.

Svirao je, prije pjevačke solo-karijere, u mnogim bendovima: Delfini, Mladi batali, More, Put... No, bio je i sviratelj udaraljki u HNK, te studijski bubnjar u Jugotonu (današnja Croatia Records).

Kad je "propjevao" kao Jasmin, više nije bilo povratka. Publika ga je ekspresno zavoljela...

Rođen je kao Milo Vasić u Splitu 1954. godine, dijete oca Dragutina – također glazbenika – i majke Jasne, pjevačice u operi HNK. Milo je bio jedan od najboljih bubnjara i džezista u bivšoj Jugoslaviji, koji se školovao i u Americi na jazz-akademiji Stanley Spector (NY).

Stavrosu su puno puta tijekom karijere, osobito strašnih ratnih devedesetih, "propitivali" krvna zrnca, nikad nije zamjerio, on je naprosto funkcioniraju na "pogonu ljubavi".

Ovako je to komentirao u velikom intervjuu koji je dao novinarki Slobodne Ivani Kapetanović prije par mjeseci:

"To je bilo jako ružno, kad te optuže za nešto što nisi. Znam ja ko je to, to su moji kolege koji su bili zavidni, ali ja sam se uvijek molio Bogu za njih, opraštao sam im. Moj otac je podrijetlom Rumunj, to je istina, al‘ nema nikakve veze sa Srbijom. Oni kad su došli u Jugoslaviju, prikrstili su se i prominili prezime.

Moj je otac živija u Splitu cili život i svira u HNK-u i sa Srbijom nema ništa, al‘ moji kolege su bili tako nastrojeni. Bojali su se da ne dođem na teren u Ameriku ili Kanadu, al‘ ja san bija strpljiv i čeka da sve dođe na svoje misto i došlo je. Nisan ima nekih velikih problema.

Jedno vrime san živija na Visokoj, a gori su ljudi koji su ekstremni Hrvati, ja san čak ima zabranu nastupanja 88. godine šest miseci, jer san u Zagvozdu piva "Marjane, Marjane".

Onda je došla policija, skupili su me, odveli u zatvor i zabranili su mi nastupe šest miseci. Meni je to bija veliki šok i nezgodna situacija. Tada su me proglasili velikin ustašom. Znači ovde san bija ustaša, a ovde Srbin. Sve je to kao da se djeca igraju nekih čudnih igrica..." - rezimirao je pjevač, nikad s gorčinom.

Rajko Dujmić, suradnik i blizak prijatelj, zaslužan je za njegovo umjetničko ime. Predložio mu je da postane Jasmin Stavros, da ga više ljudi ne prepoznaju kao "bubnjara Milu", nego "pjevača Stavrosa".

Prva pjesma koju je snimio pod novim imenom bila je "E, moj Rajko" 1987. godine. Uslijedile su uspješnice "Umoran" i "Dao bih sto Amerika".

Klavir i kontrabas

Iako je bio percipiran kao "pjevač lakih nota", Stavrosovo obrazovanje bilo je sustavno. Završio je osnovnu glazbenu školu, smjer klavir, potom i Srednju, kad je svladao novi instrument – kontrabas. Pohađao je i privatne satove solo-pjevanja. Istodobno se zaljubljuje u bubnjeve, glazbalo koje najviše odražava njegov temperamentni karakter.

Svirao je, prije pjevačke solo-karijere, u mnogim bendovima: Delfini, Mladi batali, More, Put... No, bio je i sviratelj udaraljki u HNK, te studijski bubnjar u Jugotonu (današnja Croatia Records).

Kad je "propjevao" kao Jasmin, više nije bilo povratka. Publika ga je ekspresno zavoljela...

Rođen je kao Milo Vasić u Splitu 1954. godine, dijete oca Dragutina – također glazbenika – i majke Jasne, pjevačice u operi HNK. Milo je bio jedan od najboljih bubnjara i džezista u bivšoj Jugoslaviji, koji se školovao i u Americi na jazz-akademiji Stanley Spector (NY).

Stavrosu su puno puta tijekom karijere, osobito strašnih ratnih devedesetih, "propitivali" krvna zrnca, nikad nije zamjerio, on je naprosto funkcioniraju na "pogonu ljubavi".
