Kakav je to bio dan... Goran je tog velikog, veličanstvenog 9. srpnja 2001. godine konačno osvojio Wimbledon. Gotovo svi su u svojim glavama već prekrižili tu mogućnost, imao je čovjek iza sebe već tri izgubljena finala (1992., 1994. i 1998.), a u taj je turnir ušao kao 125. igrač svijeta zahvaljujući pozivnici organizatora.

Sada je, da budemo slikoviti, 125. na svijetu Španjolac Bernabe Zapata Miralles, no za razliku od tog 24-godišnjaka, Goran je imao “ono nešto”.

Nije to “nešto” bilo ni forehand ni backhand... OK, imao je najbolji servis na svijetu, a na travi je on bio posebno ubojit, ali u All England Clubu osjećao se i neki dodatni faktor, kao da je to baš njegov turnir. I bila bi doista povijesna nepravda da je Goran Ivanišević objavio kraj karijere, a da u svojoj vitrini nema i pehar namijenjen pobjedniku Wimbledona.

Kako s njim nikad ništa nije bilo baš sasvim obično, tako je ispalo i s tim pokalom. Trebao je potrošiti tone živaca svojih sugrađana i ostalih navijača, koliki su samo “bacali televizore kroz prozor” zbog njegovih izgubljenih mečeva... Goran je u to vrijeme bio svijet za sebe, praktički svi ljubitelji sporta su znali gdje, kada i protiv koga igra, nikad to nije bio još jedan tjedan u nizu...

Tim epskim finalom protiv Australca Patricka Raftera Goran je zaokružio ne samo svoju karijeru, nego jedan dio života brojnih svojih navijača koji bi ostali zakinuti, prazni, nedorečeni da je kojim slučajem taj meč završio drukčije.

A njegov doček u Splitu posebna je priča. Ekstaza, oduševljenje, Split je gorio, kako kažu mnogi, kao nikad. I taj je doček imao “ono nešto”, drukčiji od svih drugih, brojnih slavlja koja je gradu podario Hajduk... Uz bok tom dočeku ide košarkaška Jugoplastika, ali opet, Goranov je doček mnogima najveći u povijesti Splita. Puna Riva, ne samo na kopnu, svatko tko je mogao s brodicom je došao pred luku, dočekati Gorana, biti dio priče. Biti na Rivi tog dana značilo je i postati nezaobilazni dio povijesti Splita.

Jer, kako su proučili i TBF-ovci, stigao je Genije.

Kakav je to bio dan... Goran je tog velikog, veličanstvenog 9. srpnja 2001. godine konačno osvojio Wimbledon. Gotovo svi su u svojim glavama već prekrižili tu mogućnost, imao je čovjek iza sebe već tri izgubljena finala (1992., 1994. i 1998.), a u taj je turnir ušao kao 125. igrač svijeta zahvaljujući pozivnici organizatora.

Sada je, da budemo slikoviti, 125. na svijetu Španjolac Bernabe Zapata Miralles, no za razliku od tog 24-godišnjaka, Goran je imao “ono nešto”.

Nije to “nešto” bilo ni forehand ni backhand... OK, imao je najbolji servis na svijetu, a na travi je on bio posebno ubojit, ali u All England Clubu osjećao se i neki dodatni faktor, kao da je to baš njegov turnir. I bila bi doista povijesna nepravda da je Goran Ivanišević objavio kraj karijere, a da u svojoj vitrini nema i pehar namijenjen pobjedniku Wimbledona.

Kako s njim nikad ništa nije bilo baš sasvim obično, tako je ispalo i s tim pokalom. Trebao je potrošiti tone živaca svojih sugrađana i ostalih navijača, koliki su samo “bacali televizore kroz prozor” zbog njegovih izgubljenih mečeva... Goran je u to vrijeme bio svijet za sebe, praktički svi ljubitelji sporta su znali gdje, kada i protiv koga igra, nikad to nije bio još jedan tjedan u nizu...

Tim epskim finalom protiv Australca Patricka Raftera Goran je zaokružio ne samo svoju karijeru, nego jedan dio života brojnih svojih navijača koji bi ostali zakinuti, prazni, nedorečeni da je kojim slučajem taj meč završio drukčije.

A njegov doček u Splitu posebna je priča. Ekstaza, oduševljenje, Split je gorio, kako kažu mnogi, kao nikad. I taj je doček imao “ono nešto”, drukčiji od svih drugih, brojnih slavlja koja je gradu podario Hajduk... Uz bok tom dočeku ide košarkaška Jugoplastika, ali opet, Goranov je doček mnogima najveći u povijesti Splita. Puna Riva, ne samo na kopnu, svatko tko je mogao s brodicom je došao pred luku, dočekati Gorana, biti dio priče. Biti na Rivi tog dana značilo je i postati nezaobilazni dio povijesti Splita.

Jer, kako su proučili i TBF-ovci, stigao je Genije.

Kakav je to bio dan... Goran je tog velikog, veličanstvenog 9. srpnja 2001. godine konačno osvojio Wimbledon. Gotovo svi su u svojim glavama već prekrižili tu mogućnost, imao je čovjek iza sebe već tri izgubljena finala (1992., 1994. i 1998.), a u taj je turnir ušao kao 125. igrač svijeta zahvaljujući pozivnici organizatora.

Sada je, da budemo slikoviti, 125. na svijetu Španjolac Bernabe Zapata Miralles, no za razliku od tog 24-godišnjaka, Goran je imao “ono nešto”.

Nije to “nešto” bilo ni forehand ni backhand... OK, imao je najbolji servis na svijetu, a na travi je on bio posebno ubojit, ali u All England Clubu osjećao se i neki dodatni faktor, kao da je to baš njegov turnir. I bila bi doista povijesna nepravda da je Goran Ivanišević objavio kraj karijere, a da u svojoj vitrini nema i pehar namijenjen pobjedniku Wimbledona.

Kako s njim nikad ništa nije bilo baš sasvim obično, tako je ispalo i s tim pokalom. Trebao je potrošiti tone živaca svojih sugrađana i ostalih navijača, koliki su samo “bacali televizore kroz prozor” zbog njegovih izgubljenih mečeva... Goran je u to vrijeme bio svijet za sebe, praktički svi ljubitelji sporta su znali gdje, kada i protiv koga igra, nikad to nije bio još jedan tjedan u nizu...

Tim epskim finalom protiv Australca Patricka Raftera Goran je zaokružio ne samo svoju karijeru, nego jedan dio života brojnih svojih navijača koji bi ostali zakinuti, prazni, nedorečeni da je kojim slučajem taj meč završio drukčije.

A njegov doček u Splitu posebna je priča. Ekstaza, oduševljenje, Split je gorio, kako kažu mnogi, kao nikad. I taj je doček imao “ono nešto”, drukčiji od svih drugih, brojnih slavlja koja je gradu podario Hajduk... Uz bok tom dočeku ide košarkaška Jugoplastika, ali opet, Goranov je doček mnogima najveći u povijesti Splita. Puna Riva, ne samo na kopnu, svatko tko je mogao s brodicom je došao pred luku, dočekati Gorana, biti dio priče. Biti na Rivi tog dana značilo je i postati nezaobilazni dio povijesti Splita.

Jer, kako su proučili i TBF-ovci, stigao je Genije.
