Otokom Hvarom pronijela se vijest da je u 83. godini preminuo šjor Marijo Radonić, prvi načelnik Općine Jelsa nakon njezina ponovnog "rađanja" 1993. godine nakon prve reforme lokalnih jedinica i raspada dotadašnje jedinstvene otočne Općine Hvar.

Njegov ispraćaj na vječni počinak sa svetom misom zadušnicom obavit će se sutra na mjesnom groblju Gradina u Jelsi s početkom u 14.30 sati, dok će sahrana biti u obližnjim Pitvama.

Barba Marijo je bio dijete Jakova i Antice Radonić, koji su u vrlo teškim okolnostima Drugog svjetskog rata spašavali Židove te im je zato kasnije dodijeljen počasni naziv Pravednika među narodima svijeta. Po zanimanju je bio diplomirani inženjer elektrotehnike, ali se umjesto u struci već od ranog proljeća 1967. godine angažirao u turizmu.

Radio je u vodećoj turističkoj agenciji – dubrovačkom "Atlasu" na odgovornim mjestima povezanim s otokom Hvarom i srednjom Dalmacijom sve do Domovinskog rata, odnosno izbora za općinskog načelnika.

Od prvog dolaska izbjeglica iz istočne Slavonije, u rano ljeto 1991. godine, pa do njihova povratka, kao i onih iz BiH tijekom 1993. bio je angažiran je oko njihova smještaja, boravka i socijalizacije te oko rješavanja svih teškoća tih nesretnih ljudi. Uz tu izuzetno složenu zadaću, bio je od 1991. do 1993. godine član Izvršnog vijeća Općine Hvar.

Istodobno je ustrojio Hrvatski časnički zbor (umjesto nekadašnjeg Udruženja rezervnih vojnih starješina) čiju osnivačku skupštinu uspješno organizira 12. rujna 1991. godine, te sustavno nastavlja rad na području cijelog otoka. Svoj doprinos Domovinskom ratu dao je i kao zamjenik zapovjednika Narodne zaštite, koja je bila uzorno ustrojena za područje Jelse i njoj gravitirajućih mjesta.

Kao nezavisan kanditat na HDZ-ovoj listi postao je općinski vijećnik i 15. travnja 1993. bio izabran za prvog načelnika Općine Jelsa. Na toj funkciji, uz pomoć Poglavarstva i vijećnika, rješavao je brojne organizacijske, tehničke, kadrovske i prostorne teškoće, stvarajući tako dobru podlogu za rad lokalne uprave, a nakon isteka mandata, ponovno je bio općinski vijećnik.

Za njega kažu da je zasigurno bio najskromniji načelnik u povijesti Jelse, nije pripadao grupaciji nekih kolega širom Lijepe naše koji su tijekom svojeg mandata pojeli čitava stada janjetine, nego je vrlo često službene ručkove plaćao iz vlastitog džepa. Jelšani će ga pamtiti i po tome što je u nekim situacijama posao najprije nudio onima slabijeg imovinskog stanja.

Od 2000. godine, dolaskom don Ljubomira Galova za mjesnog župnika, šjor Marijo postao je članom Ekonomskog vijeća, gdje se nesebično i s puno energije uključuje u obnovu župskih sakralnih objekata i koordinira suradnju župe s državnim i regionalnim ustanovama koje tehnički i financijski pomažu obnovu vrijedne spomeničke baštine.

Odličnu suradnju imao je i sa sadašnjim župnikom don Stankom Jerčićem, naprosto riječ je o čovjeku koji je sa sobom u svijet ponio odlike poput skromnosti, poštenja, humanosti i usmjerenosti prema općem dobru svojih sugrađana i Općine Jelsa, od koje je 2011. godine dobio Nagradu za životno djelo.

Otokom Hvarom pronijela se vijest da je u 83. godini preminuo šjor Marijo Radonić, prvi načelnik Općine Jelsa nakon njezina ponovnog "rađanja" 1993. godine nakon prve reforme lokalnih jedinica i raspada dotadašnje jedinstvene otočne Općine Hvar.

Njegov ispraćaj na vječni počinak sa svetom misom zadušnicom obavit će se sutra na mjesnom groblju Gradina u Jelsi s početkom u 14.30 sati, dok će sahrana biti u obližnjim Pitvama.

Barba Marijo je bio dijete Jakova i Antice Radonić, koji su u vrlo teškim okolnostima Drugog svjetskog rata spašavali Židove te im je zato kasnije dodijeljen počasni naziv Pravednika među narodima svijeta. Po zanimanju je bio diplomirani inženjer elektrotehnike, ali se umjesto u struci već od ranog proljeća 1967. godine angažirao u turizmu.

Radio je u vodećoj turističkoj agenciji – dubrovačkom "Atlasu" na odgovornim mjestima povezanim s otokom Hvarom i srednjom Dalmacijom sve do Domovinskog rata, odnosno izbora za općinskog načelnika.

Od prvog dolaska izbjeglica iz istočne Slavonije, u rano ljeto 1991. godine, pa do njihova povratka, kao i onih iz BiH tijekom 1993. bio je angažiran je oko njihova smještaja, boravka i socijalizacije te oko rješavanja svih teškoća tih nesretnih ljudi. Uz tu izuzetno složenu zadaću, bio je od 1991. do 1993. godine član Izvršnog vijeća Općine Hvar.

Istodobno je ustrojio Hrvatski časnički zbor (umjesto nekadašnjeg Udruženja rezervnih vojnih starješina) čiju osnivačku skupštinu uspješno organizira 12. rujna 1991. godine, te sustavno nastavlja rad na području cijelog otoka. Svoj doprinos Domovinskom ratu dao je i kao zamjenik zapovjednika Narodne zaštite, koja je bila uzorno ustrojena za područje Jelse i njoj gravitirajućih mjesta.

Kao nezavisan kanditat na HDZ-ovoj listi postao je općinski vijećnik i 15. travnja 1993. bio izabran za prvog načelnika Općine Jelsa. Na toj funkciji, uz pomoć Poglavarstva i vijećnika, rješavao je brojne organizacijske, tehničke, kadrovske i prostorne teškoće, stvarajući tako dobru podlogu za rad lokalne uprave, a nakon isteka mandata, ponovno je bio općinski vijećnik.

Za njega kažu da je zasigurno bio najskromniji načelnik u povijesti Jelse, nije pripadao grupaciji nekih kolega širom Lijepe naše koji su tijekom svojeg mandata pojeli čitava stada janjetine, nego je vrlo često službene ručkove plaćao iz vlastitog džepa. Jelšani će ga pamtiti i po tome što je u nekim situacijama posao najprije nudio onima slabijeg imovinskog stanja.

Od 2000. godine, dolaskom don Ljubomira Galova za mjesnog župnika, šjor Marijo postao je članom Ekonomskog vijeća, gdje se nesebično i s puno energije uključuje u obnovu župskih sakralnih objekata i koordinira suradnju župe s državnim i regionalnim ustanovama koje tehnički i financijski pomažu obnovu vrijedne spomeničke baštine.

Odličnu suradnju imao je i sa sadašnjim župnikom don Stankom Jerčićem, naprosto riječ je o čovjeku koji je sa sobom u svijet ponio odlike poput skromnosti, poštenja, humanosti i usmjerenosti prema općem dobru svojih sugrađana i Općine Jelsa, od koje je 2011. godine dobio Nagradu za životno djelo.

Otokom Hvarom pronijela se vijest da je u 83. godini preminuo šjor Marijo Radonić, prvi načelnik Općine Jelsa nakon njezina ponovnog "rađanja" 1993. godine nakon prve reforme lokalnih jedinica i raspada dotadašnje jedinstvene otočne Općine Hvar.

Njegov ispraćaj na vječni počinak sa svetom misom zadušnicom obavit će se sutra na mjesnom groblju Gradina u Jelsi s početkom u 14.30 sati, dok će sahrana biti u obližnjim Pitvama.

Barba Marijo je bio dijete Jakova i Antice Radonić, koji su u vrlo teškim okolnostima Drugog svjetskog rata spašavali Židove te im je zato kasnije dodijeljen počasni naziv Pravednika među narodima svijeta. Po zanimanju je bio diplomirani inženjer elektrotehnike, ali se umjesto u struci već od ranog proljeća 1967. godine angažirao u turizmu.
