Na hrvatskoj skali užasa imati majstora u kući samo je za nijansu manje zlo nego imati doktora u kući. Naravno, nije uvijek bilo tako. Barem do početka devedesetih i mi smo dobivali sasvim pristojnu uslugu za novac kad bi nas nužda natjerala da krenemo u obnovu stana ili se latimo popravaka po kući. No, s prvim danima takozvane tranzicije, kad smo nešto počeli pretvarati u ništa, krenulo je razaranje privrede i otimačina tvornica. U tome procesu izgubljeni su deseci tisuća radnih mjesta.

Preko noći osiromašeni ljudi morali su se nekako snaći, pa je dio njih sreću potražio u zanatima koji su im se činili brzo i lako savladivima. I dok si kazao "keks", dobili smo cijelu vojsku parketara, keramičara, vodoinstalatera, stolara, ličilaca, električara... od slatke vode. U paketu s njima, dobili smo i teške emocionalne ožiljke. Nema obitelji u Hrvata u kojoj se s užasom ne prepričava poneka traumatična storija o meštru koji ih je umalo stajao glave.

Jednom spuštenu letvicu izvrsnosti do danas nitko nije podigao. Utoliko je i sasvim razumljivo što prosječan čitatelj s naših prostora htio-ne htio naprosto mora bojažljivo i s velikom rezervom uzeti u ruke knjigu koju je u prvom licu jednine napisao stolar, ispovijedajući svoje iskustvo rada na obnovi jednog potkrovlja. Srećom, drvodjelac o kojemu je riječ dolazi iz Norveške (premda se nama može činiti kako je riječ o biću iz neke udaljene galaksije). On se zove Ole Thorstensen i napisao je možda i najneobičniju knjigu koju sam ikada pročitao.

NOŠENJE TEŠKIH TERETA

Njezin je naslov "Raditi kako treba", podnaslovljena je kao "Dnevnik majstora stolara", i ne bavi se ničim drugim osim radnom rutinom jednoga meštra i njegovih kolega koje je autsorsao da bi mogao zaokružiti paket usluga. Sva je radnja ovdje rad sâm, događa se od ponedjeljka do petka, a ono što se zbiva vikendima zaključano je u pretincu piščeve intime. Njegov privatni život ostaje potpuno izvan dohvata čitatelja.

Thorstenson piše o svome zanatu, vrlo precizno i akribično, kao da sastavlja priručnik za one koji bi tek htjeli postati meštri. Osim što je zanatlija, on je i poduzetnik, pa nas izvještava i o onoj manje zabavnoj strani svoga posla: izradama ponuda i troškovnika, vođenju korespondencije i knjiga, pregovorima s naručiteljima, arhitektima i činovnicima u gradskoj upravi... Prije i poslije svega, on je običan čovjek koji sluša radio, jede, razgovara s kolegama, na kraju dana voli popiti pivo...

Tek što sam se primakao kraju rečenice, a već bih je opozvao, jer je Thorstensen sve prije nego običan čovjek. Koji bi to prosječni meštar mogao sastaviti ovako dojmljiv pasus o važnosti povijanja dviju osoba pod istim teretom: "Jedna od najljepših stvari koje mogu reći za druge jest da smo zajedno nosili teške terete, doslovno rečeno. Nositi svoj kraj nečeg teškog i osjećati kako se kretnje onoga drugog prenose kroz predmet nešto je posebno.

Mogu osjetiti je li drugi spretan u nošenju, je li obziran prema meni ili misli samo na svoj teret i mogu osjetiti kad je iscrpljen. Iscrpljenost se osjeti po koracima, kad kretnje postanu neprecizne. Iscrpljenost odražava i šutnja. Tko god može, trebao bi s vremena na vrijeme nositi nešto s drugima, to je dobar način upoznavanja."

KOPIRANJE IKEE

Nadalje, nisam siguran da na našoj javnoj sceni ima i dovoljno intelektualaca, a kamoli tek drvodjelaca zaokupljenih paradoksima protjecanja vremena poput Thorstensena: "Kao fenomen Ikea je toliko velika i jaka da se pitam nije li utjecala na percepciju vremena u društvu, ili je pak samo rezultat vremena u kojem živimo. Potreba da zamjenjujemo stvari rezultat je kvalitete tih stvari, ali je i uzrok njihove kvalitete. (...) Opasnost je u tome da ondje gdje je Ikea kopirala rad majstora, majstori sad kopiraju Ikeu. Situacija je to koja će dugoročno završiti loše za mene."

Kazati da je knjiga "Raditi kako treba" napisana kako treba, značilo bi teško je podcijeniti. Ole Thorstensen nije se imao na koga ugledati ispisujući ovu posvetu manualnom radu. I bolje da nije, jer ga nitko ne bi znao podučiti kako se u formi nečega što sliči udžbeniku za stolarske šegrte može napisati veliki libar o radnoj etici i profesionalnom ispunjenju, a u kojemu mogu uživati i ljudi s dvije lijeve ruke poput, recimo, potpisnika ovih redaka. Komplimente zaslužuje i Anja Majnarić koja je knjigu maestralno prevela s norveškog na drvodjelsko-građevinarski, mučeći se s fosnama, roženicama, sljemenjačama i sličnim egzotičnim riječima iz žargona meštarske struke.

Na hrvatskoj skali užasa imati majstora u kući samo je za nijansu manje zlo nego imati doktora u kući. Naravno, nije uvijek bilo tako. Barem do početka devedesetih i mi smo dobivali sasvim pristojnu uslugu za novac kad bi nas nužda natjerala da krenemo u obnovu stana ili se latimo popravaka po kući. No, s prvim danima takozvane tranzicije, kad smo nešto počeli pretvarati u ništa, krenulo je razaranje privrede i otimačina tvornica. U tome procesu izgubljeni su deseci tisuća radnih mjesta.

Preko noći osiromašeni ljudi morali su se nekako snaći, pa je dio njih sreću potražio u zanatima koji su im se činili brzo i lako savladivima. I dok si kazao "keks", dobili smo cijelu vojsku parketara, keramičara, vodoinstalatera, stolara, ličilaca, električara... od slatke vode. U paketu s njima, dobili smo i teške emocionalne ožiljke. Nema obitelji u Hrvata u kojoj se s užasom ne prepričava poneka traumatična storija o meštru koji ih je umalo stajao glave.

Jednom spuštenu letvicu izvrsnosti do danas nitko nije podigao. Utoliko je i sasvim razumljivo što prosječan čitatelj s naših prostora htio-ne htio naprosto mora bojažljivo i s velikom rezervom uzeti u ruke knjigu koju je u prvom licu jednine napisao stolar, ispovijedajući svoje iskustvo rada na obnovi jednog potkrovlja. Srećom, drvodjelac o kojemu je riječ dolazi iz Norveške (premda se nama može činiti kako je riječ o biću iz neke udaljene galaksije). On se zove Ole Thorstensen i napisao je možda i najneobičniju knjigu koju sam ikada pročitao.

NOŠENJE TEŠKIH TERETA

Njezin je naslov "Raditi kako treba", podnaslovljena je kao "Dnevnik majstora stolara", i ne bavi se ničim drugim osim radnom rutinom jednoga meštra i njegovih kolega koje je autsorsao da bi mogao zaokružiti paket usluga. Sva je radnja ovdje rad sâm, događa se od ponedjeljka do petka, a ono što se zbiva vikendima zaključano je u pretincu piščeve intime. Njegov privatni život ostaje potpuno izvan dohvata čitatelja.

Thorstenson piše o svome zanatu, vrlo precizno i akribično, kao da sastavlja priručnik za one koji bi tek htjeli postati meštri. Osim što je zanatlija, on je i poduzetnik, pa nas izvještava i o onoj manje zabavnoj strani svoga posla: izradama ponuda i troškovnika, vođenju korespondencije i knjiga, pregovorima s naručiteljima, arhitektima i činovnicima u gradskoj upravi... Prije i poslije svega, on je običan čovjek koji sluša radio, jede, razgovara s kolegama, na kraju dana voli popiti pivo...

Tek što sam se primakao kraju rečenice, a već bih je opozvao, jer je Thorstensen sve prije nego običan čovjek. Koji bi to prosječni meštar mogao sastaviti ovako dojmljiv pasus o važnosti povijanja dviju osoba pod istim teretom: "Jedna od najljepših stvari koje mogu reći za druge jest da smo zajedno nosili teške terete, doslovno rečeno. Nositi svoj kraj nečeg teškog i osjećati kako se kretnje onoga drugog prenose kroz predmet nešto je posebno.

Mogu osjetiti je li drugi spretan u nošenju, je li obziran prema meni ili misli samo na svoj teret i mogu osjetiti kad je iscrpljen. Iscrpljenost se osjeti po koracima, kad kretnje postanu neprecizne. Iscrpljenost odražava i šutnja. Tko god može, trebao bi s vremena na vrijeme nositi nešto s drugima, to je dobar način upoznavanja."

KOPIRANJE IKEE

Nadalje, nisam siguran da na našoj javnoj sceni ima i dovoljno intelektualaca, a kamoli tek drvodjelaca zaokupljenih paradoksima protjecanja vremena poput Thorstensena: "Kao fenomen Ikea je toliko velika i jaka da se pitam nije li utjecala na percepciju vremena u društvu, ili je pak samo rezultat vremena u kojem živimo. Potreba da zamjenjujemo stvari rezultat je kvalitete tih stvari, ali je i uzrok njihove kvalitete. (...) Opasnost je u tome da ondje gdje je Ikea kopirala rad majstora, majstori sad kopiraju Ikeu. Situacija je to koja će dugoročno završiti loše za mene."

Kazati da je knjiga "Raditi kako treba" napisana kako treba, značilo bi teško je podcijeniti. Ole Thorstensen nije se imao na koga ugledati ispisujući ovu posvetu manualnom radu. I bolje da nije, jer ga nitko ne bi znao podučiti kako se u formi nečega što sliči udžbeniku za stolarske šegrte može napisati veliki libar o radnoj etici i profesionalnom ispunjenju, a u kojemu mogu uživati i ljudi s dvije lijeve ruke poput, recimo, potpisnika ovih redaka. Komplimente zaslužuje i Anja Majnarić koja je knjigu maestralno prevela s norveškog na drvodjelsko-građevinarski, mučeći se s fosnama, roženicama, sljemenjačama i sličnim egzotičnim riječima iz žargona meštarske struke.

Na hrvatskoj skali užasa imati majstora u kući samo je za nijansu manje zlo nego imati doktora u kući. Naravno, nije uvijek bilo tako. Barem do početka devedesetih i mi smo dobivali sasvim pristojnu uslugu za novac kad bi nas nužda natjerala da krenemo u obnovu stana ili se latimo popravaka po kući. No, s prvim danima takozvane tranzicije, kad smo nešto počeli pretvarati u ništa, krenulo je razaranje privrede i otimačina tvornica. U tome procesu izgubljeni su deseci tisuća radnih mjesta.

Preko noći osiromašeni ljudi morali su se nekako snaći, pa je dio njih sreću potražio u zanatima koji su im se činili brzo i lako savladivima. I dok si kazao "keks", dobili smo cijelu vojsku parketara, keramičara, vodoinstalatera, stolara, ličilaca, električara... od slatke vode. U paketu s nj...
