Maslinovo ulje, koje se smatra zdravijom alternativom uljima sjemenki, također je korisno u sprečavanju gubitka kognitivnih sposobnosti i smrti povezanih s mentalnim propadanjem, otkriva studija provedena tijekom 28 godina na 92.000 ljudi.

Sudionike se svake četiri godine pitalo o količini unosa maslinovog ulja i općenito njihovim prehrambenim navikama, dok se kod smrtnih slučajeva, gdje je to bilo primjenjivo, tražio uzrok smrti, uključujući i demenciju.
Utvrđeno je da su oni koji su vrlo rijetko ili nikad koristili maslinovo ulje bili skloniji razvoju stanja poput Alzheimerove bolesti. Znanstvenici su objavili da rezultati dugogodišnje studije navode na zaključak da "unos maslinovog ulja predstavlja moguću strategiju u smanjenju smrti od demencije".

Studija je pokazala da su osobe koje su konzumirale više od pola žlice maslinovog ulja dnevno imale 28 posto manji rizik od smrti od demencije u usporedbi s onima koji su ga rijetko konzumirali ili nikad. Nadalje, zamjena samo jedne žličice margarina ili majoneze s jednakom količinom maslinovog ulja dnevno pokazala je vezu s osam do 14 posto manjim rizikom od smrti od demencije.
S visokim udjelom antioksidanata i neznatno prerađeno, prešano maslinovo ulje je prirodnije od ostalog biljnog ulja i ulja sjemenki koja su zbog miješanja i načina prerade siromašnija nutrijentima i lišena okusa.

No, cijene maslinovog ulja su posljednjih godina skočile u nebo te je ta vrijedna namirnica postala nedostupnija ljudima s nižim primanjima jer su od sredine 2021. suočeni s porastom cijena hrane, goriva, grijanja i prijevoza.

Maslinovo ulje, koje se smatra zdravijom alternativom uljima sjemenki, također je korisno u sprečavanju gubitka kognitivnih sposobnosti i smrti povezanih s mentalnim propadanjem, otkriva studija provedena tijekom 28 godina na 92.000 ljudi.
"Pojačana konzumacija maslinovog ulja povezana je sa smanjenim rizikom od smrti uzrokovanih demencijom, bez obzira na ukupnu kvalitetu prehrane", zaključak je tima Fakulteta za javno zdravlje Sveučilišta Harvard čije je istraživanje objavljeno u stručnom časopisu American Medical Association (AMA).

Sudionike se svake četiri godine pitalo o količini unosa maslinovog ulja i općenito njihovim prehrambenim navikama, dok se kod smrtnih slučajeva, gdje je to bilo primjenjivo, tražio uzrok smrti, uključujući i demenciju.
Utvrđeno je da su oni koji su vrlo rijetko ili nikad koristili maslinovo ulje bili skloniji razvoju stanja poput Alzheimerove bolesti. Znanstvenici su objavili da rezultati dugogodišnje studije navode na zaključak da "unos maslinovog ulja predstavlja moguću strategiju u smanjenju smrti od demencije".

Studija je pokazala da su osobe koje su konzumirale više od pola žlice maslinovog ulja dnevno imale 28 posto manji rizik od smrti od demencije u usporedbi s onima koji su ga rijetko konzumirali ili nikad. Nadalje, zamjena samo jedne žličice margarina ili majoneze s jednakom količinom maslinovog ulja dnevno pokazala je vezu s osam do 14 posto manjim rizikom od smrti od demencije.
S visokim udjelom antioksidanata i neznatno prerađeno, prešano maslinovo ulje je prirodnije od ostalog biljnog ulja i ulja sjemenki koja su zbog miješanja i načina prerade siromašnija nutrijentima i lišena okusa.
Tim s Harvarda također navodi da nije otkrivena nikakva poveznica između biljnih ulja ili maslaca i ostalih mliječnih proizvoda s gubitkom kognitivnih sposobnosti.

Također ističu da redoviti korisnici maslinovog ulja u manjoj mjeri razvijaju dijabetes od onih koji su skloniji konzumaciji biljnih ulja i ulja sjemenki te da je "moguće" da je kuhanje na maslinovom ulju "pokazatelj zdravije prehrane".
No, cijene maslinovog ulja su posljednjih godina skočile u nebo te je ta vrijedna namirnica postala nedostupnija ljudima s nižim primanjima jer su od sredine 2021. suočeni s porastom cijena hrane, goriva, grijanja i prijevoza.
Prema Uredu za statistiku EU-a, cijena maslinovog ulja je ove godine u europskom bloku veća za 50 posto u odnosu na 2023.
