U zajedničkoj akciji američke ratne mornarice i obalne straže spašena su trojica mornara, koja su se nasukala na malom otočiću u Tihom oceanu. Trojac je složio riječ "HELP" (pomoć) od palminih grana na plaži od bijelog pijeska, prenosi index pisanje CNN-a.

Misija se, pak, neočekivano pretvorila u obiteljsko okupljanje.

Trojica muškaraca su 31. ožujka planirala loviti ribu u vodama oko atola Pikelot, koji pripada Mikroneziji, kada su njihov šestometarski čamac zahvatili valovi, te oštetili njegov motor.

Iskrcali su se na obalu nenaseljenog Pikelota, ali se baterija na radiju ispraznila prije nego što su uspjeli pozvati pomoć. Brodolomnici su skupili palmino lišće s otoka, složili ga u riječ "HELP" i nadali se najboljemu.

Tjedan dana su živjeli od kokosovih oraha. Imali su svježu vodu iz malog bunara na otoku, koji ponekad posjećuju ribari, objavili su dužnosnici Obalne straže.

Bio je ključan

Potraga za muškarcima započela je 6. travnja, kada je jedan od njihovih rođaka pozvao spasilačke službe na američkom pacifičkom teritoriju Guamu, rekavši da se nisu vratili na atol Polowat, udaljen više od 170 kilometara, gdje su njih trojica započeli svoje putovanje Uskrsne nedjelje.

Otok Pikelot je doista iznimno zabačen i izoliran. Dio he Saveznih Država Mikronezije, pacifičke države smještene između Filipina i Havaja, koja se sastoji od više od 600 otoka raštrkanih na oko 2.5 milijuna četvornih kilometara oceana.

Obalna straža je objavila kako je izviđački avion američke mornarice P-8A, poslan iz zračne baze Kadena na Okinawi u Japanu 7. travnja, uočio natpis od palminog lišća na plaži. Poručnica Chelsea Garcia, koordinatorica potrage i spašavanja, komentirala je kako je upravo znak bio ključan za njihovo pronalaženje:

"Ovaj čin domišljatosti bio je ključan u usmjeravanju spasilačkih napora izravno do njihove lokacije."

"Shvatio sam da smo rođaci"

Mornarički avion je trojici muškaraca ispustio pakete za preživljavanje i prenio njihovu lokaciju spasilačkom centru. Dan kasnije zrakoplov HC-130 obalne straže poslao je radiosignal ljudima, koji su uspjeli reći posadi da su dobro i da im treba pomoć da se vrate u Polowat.

Kad je 9. travnja brod obalne straže stigao do Pikelota, priča je dobila još jednu dimenziju. Jedan od prvih spasilaca koji se iskrcao na plažu bio je dočasnik Eugene Halishlius. Brodolomci su iznenađeni kada su vidjeli da je Halishlius Mikronezijac i da govori lokalni jezik.

Kad se predstavio prvom od nasukanih muškaraca koji je stigao do čamca za spašavanje, brodolomac je bio zapanjen: to mu je bio rođak!

"Ovo je nevjerojatno!" - komentirao je u nevjerici dočasnik Halishlius.

U zajedničkoj akciji američke ratne mornarice i obalne straže spašena su trojica mornara, koja su se nasukala na malom otočiću u Tihom oceanu. Trojac je složio riječ "HELP" (pomoć) od palminih grana na plaži od bijelog pijeska, prenosi index pisanje CNN-a.

Misija se, pak, neočekivano pretvorila u obiteljsko okupljanje.

Trojica muškaraca su 31. ožujka planirala loviti ribu u vodama oko atola Pikelot, koji pripada Mikroneziji, kada su njihov šestometarski čamac zahvatili valovi, te oštetili njegov motor.

Iskrcali su se na obalu nenaseljenog Pikelota, ali se baterija na radiju ispraznila prije nego što su uspjeli pozvati pomoć. Brodolomnici su skupili palmino lišće s otoka, složili ga u riječ "HELP" i nadali se najboljemu.

Tjedan dana su živjeli od kokosovih oraha. Imali su svježu vodu iz malog bunara na otoku, koji ponekad posjećuju ribari, objavili su dužnosnici Obalne straže.

Bio je ključan

Potraga za muškarcima započela je 6. travnja, kada je jedan od njihovih rođaka pozvao spasilačke službe na američkom pacifičkom teritoriju Guamu, rekavši da se nisu vratili na atol Polowat, udaljen više od 170 kilometara, gdje su njih trojica započeli svoje putovanje Uskrsne nedjelje.

Otok Pikelot je doista iznimno zabačen i izoliran. Dio he Saveznih Država Mikronezije, pacifičke države smještene između Filipina i Havaja, koja se sastoji od više od 600 otoka raštrkanih na oko 2.5 milijuna četvornih kilometara oceana.

Obalna straža je objavila kako je izviđački avion američke mornarice P-8A, poslan iz zračne baze Kadena na Okinawi u Japanu 7. travnja, uočio natpis od palminog lišća na plaži. Poručnica Chelsea Garcia, koordinatorica potrage i spašavanja, komentirala je kako je upravo znak bio ključan za njihovo pronalaženje:

"Ovaj čin domišljatosti bio je ključan u usmjeravanju spasilačkih napora izravno do njihove lokacije."

"Shvatio sam da smo rođaci"

Mornarički avion je trojici muškaraca ispustio pakete za preživljavanje i prenio njihovu lokaciju spasilačkom centru. Dan kasnije zrakoplov HC-130 obalne straže poslao je radiosignal ljudima, koji su uspjeli reći posadi da su dobro i da im treba pomoć da se vrate u Polowat.

Kad je 9. travnja brod obalne straže stigao do Pikelota, priča je dobila još jednu dimenziju. Jedan od prvih spasilaca koji se iskrcao na plažu bio je dočasnik Eugene Halishlius. Brodolomci su iznenađeni kada su vidjeli da je Halishlius Mikronezijac i da govori lokalni jezik.

Kad se predstavio prvom od nasukanih muškaraca koji je stigao do čamca za spašavanje, brodolomac je bio zapanjen: to mu je bio rođak!

"Ovo je nevjerojatno!" - komentirao je u nevjerici dočasnik Halishlius.

U zajedničkoj akciji američke ratne mornarice i obalne straže spašena su trojica mornara, koja su se nasukala na malom otočiću u Tihom oceanu. Trojac je složio riječ "HELP" (pomoć) od palminih grana na plaži od bijelog pijeska, prenosi index pisanje CNN-a.

Misija se, pak, neočekivano pretvorila u obiteljsko okupljanje.

Trojica muškaraca su 31. ožujka planirala loviti ribu u vodama oko atola Pikelot, koji pripada Mikroneziji, kada su njihov šestometarski čamac zahvatili valovi, te oštetili njegov motor.
