Liječnik američkog predsjednika Joea Bidena u petak je potvrdio kako je lezija uklonjena s predsjednikovih prsa prošloga mjeseca bila karcinom bazalnih stanica, česta vrsta raka kože.

Dr. Kevin O‘Connor napisao je u pismu tajnici Bijele kuće Karine Jean-Pierre da je lezija uklonjena i biopsirana. "Kao što se i očekivalo lezija je bila pozitivna na karcinom bazalnih stanica. Kancerogeno tkivo je uspješno uklonjeno", napisao je O‘Connor, javlja CNN. Lezija je prvobitno uklonjena tijekom Bidenovog godišnjeg pregleda u veljači. Bijela kuća objavila je tada da je lezija uklonjena radi testiranja. 

Biden će ubuduće nastaviti s "dermatološkim nadzorom", naveo je liječnik te dodao da "nije potrebno daljnje liječenje".

O‘Connor je rekao da je područje gdje je uklonjena kancerogena lezija "zacijelilo". U pismu se također navodi kako „lezije karcinoma bazalnih stanica nemaju tendenciju širenja ili metastaziranja, kao što je poznato da to rade neki ozbiljniji karcinomi kože poput melanoma ili karcinoma skvamoznih stanica".

 Rak bazalnih stanica (bazaliom ili bazocelularni karcinom) se obično razvija na površinama kože koje su izložene sunčevu svjetlu. Bazocelularni karcinom kože jedan je od najčešćih karcinoma u SAD-u, a liječenje može biti vrlo učinkovito ako se rak rano otkrije.

U veljači je O‘Connor izvijestio da je predsjednik Biden i dalje "zdrav" i "snažan" nakon tjelesnog pregleda te da je "sposoban za uspješno izvršavanje dužnosti predsjednika". CNN navodi kako su pregledi predsjednikove glave, ušiju, očiju, nosa i grla bili  normalni. “Iznimno detaljan” neurološki pregled nije pronašao nikakve nalaze koji bi bili u skladu s moždanim udarom, multiplom sklerozom ili Parkinsonovom bolešću.

Biden i dalje osjeća "ukočen hod", navodi se u izvješću, a propisane su mu prilagođene ortoze za pomoć sa stopalima. Nastavlja vježbati pet dana u tjednu i ažuriran mu je recept za kontaktne leće.

Prva dama Jill Biden u siječnju je također bila podvrgnuta operaciji uklanjanja lezija raka kože iznad desnog oka, koja je otkrivena tijekom rutinskog pregleda. "Svo kancerozno tkivo je uspješno uklonjeno, a rubovi su bili čisti od zaostalih stanica raka kože - rekao je tada dr. O‘Connor. Tijekom postupka, također joj je uklonjeno područje koje je izazivalo zabrinutost s lijeve strane prsa koje je također bilo pod sumnjom da je karcinom bazalnih stanica. Ovo područje također je tretirano Mohsovom operacijom.

Liječnik američkog predsjednika Joea Bidena u petak je potvrdio kako je lezija uklonjena s predsjednikovih prsa prošloga mjeseca bila karcinom bazalnih stanica, česta vrsta raka kože.

Dr. Kevin O‘Connor napisao je u pismu tajnici Bijele kuće Karine Jean-Pierre da je lezija uklonjena i biopsirana. "Kao što se i očekivalo lezija je bila pozitivna na karcinom bazalnih stanica. Kancerogeno tkivo je uspješno uklonjeno", napisao je O‘Connor, javlja CNN. Lezija je prvobitno uklonjena tijekom Bidenovog godišnjeg pregleda u veljači. Bijela kuća objavila je tada da je lezija uklonjena radi testiranja. 

Biden će ubuduće nastaviti s "dermatološkim nadzorom", naveo je liječnik te dodao da "nije potrebno daljnje liječenje".

O‘Connor je rekao da je područje gdje je uklonjena kancerogena lezija "zacijelilo". U pismu se također navodi kako „lezije karcinoma bazalnih stanica nemaju tendenciju širenja ili metastaziranja, kao što je poznato da to rade neki ozbiljniji karcinomi kože poput melanoma ili karcinoma skvamoznih stanica".

 Rak bazalnih stanica (bazaliom ili bazocelularni karcinom) se obično razvija na površinama kože koje su izložene sunčevu svjetlu. Bazocelularni karcinom kože jedan je od najčešćih karcinoma u SAD-u, a liječenje može biti vrlo učinkovito ako se rak rano otkrije.

U veljači je O‘Connor izvijestio da je predsjednik Biden i dalje "zdrav" i "snažan" nakon tjelesnog pregleda te da je "sposoban za uspješno izvršavanje dužnosti predsjednika". CNN navodi kako su pregledi predsjednikove glave, ušiju, očiju, nosa i grla bili  normalni. “Iznimno detaljan” neurološki pregled nije pronašao nikakve nalaze koji bi bili u skladu s moždanim udarom, multiplom sklerozom ili Parkinsonovom bolešću.

Biden i dalje osjeća "ukočen hod", navodi se u izvješću, a propisane su mu prilagođene ortoze za pomoć sa stopalima. Nastavlja vježbati pet dana u tjednu i ažuriran mu je recept za kontaktne leće.

Prva dama Jill Biden u siječnju je također bila podvrgnuta operaciji uklanjanja lezija raka kože iznad desnog oka, koja je otkrivena tijekom rutinskog pregleda. "Svo kancerozno tkivo je uspješno uklonjeno, a rubovi su bili čisti od zaostalih stanica raka kože - rekao je tada dr. O‘Connor. Tijekom postupka, također joj je uklonjeno područje koje je izazivalo zabrinutost s lijeve strane prsa koje je također bilo pod sumnjom da je karcinom bazalnih stanica. Ovo područje također je tretirano Mohsovom operacijom.
