Plin radon, koji se često zanemaruje, doprinosi povećanju broja slučajeva raka pluća kod nepušača, što potiče pozive na opće testiranje i preventivne zakonodavne mjere. Rak pluća, koji se obično povezuje s pušenjem, sada pogađa 15-20 posto pojedinaca koji nikada nisu pušili, najčešće one u 40-im i 50-im godinama života, pokazalo je novo istraživanje, prenosi N1.

Prema američkim medicinskim stručnjacima, porast slučajeva raka pluća kod nepušača vjerojatno je povezan s produljenom izloženošću plinu radonu, bezbojnoj tvari bez mirisa koja se oslobađa prirodnom razgradnjom radioaktivnih materijala pod zemljom. Taj plin može prodrijeti u zgrade, akumulirati se u domovima i plućima bez detekcije, osim ako se ne testira na njegovu prisutnost.

Unatoč preporukama Agencije za zaštitu okoliša SAD-a (EPA) za redovito testiranje radona i mjere ublažavanja, nedavno istraživanje provedeno za Sveobuhvatni centar za rak Sveučilišta Ohio (OSUCCC) otkrilo je alarmantne statistike. Sedamdeset pet posto Amerikanaca nije testiralo svoje domove na radon, a više od polovice ne pokazuje zabrinutost zbog izloženosti tom plinu.

Dr. David Carbone, direktor OSUCCC – Centra za onkologiju James Thoracic, naglasio je važnost osvještavanja javnosti i djelovanja kako bi se suzbio rizik od izloženosti tom plinu.

Svatko s plućima može razviti rak pluća. Trebali bismo biti svjesni i zabrinuti zbog izloženosti radonu jer se smatra da je to jedan od vodećih uzroka raka pluća kod nepušača i postoji nešto što možemo učiniti da smanjimo rizik, naglašava Carbone.

Implementacija sustava za sanaciju radona i poboljšanje ventilacije u domovima ključne su preventivne mjere. Simptomi raka pluća, bez obzira na pušačku povijest, uključuju umor, kašalj, bol u prsima i otežano disanje. Rano otkrivanje testiranjem ključno je za uspješno liječenje, piše Zimo.hr.

Dok su testiranja raka pluća usmjerena na visokorizične osobe u dobi od 50 do 80 godina sa značajnom poviješću pušenja, dr. Carbone naglasio je važnost šireg testiranja, posebno za one koji su izloženi pasivnom pušenju, radonu ili profesionalnim opasnostima.

Dr. Carbone zagovarao je zakonodavstvo koje obvezuje testiranje na radon u različitim okruženjima, uključujući škole i radna mjesta, kako bi se ublažili rizici u široj zajednici. Naglasio je kumulativne i odgođene učinke izloženosti radonu, ističući nužnost proaktivnog testiranja radi zaštite od budućih zdravstvenih implikacija.

Današnja neaktivnost mogla bi dovesti do rizika od raka pluća za buduće generacije, s obzirom na to da se učinci izloženosti radonu mogu očitovati desetljećima kasnije, upozorio je dr. Carbone. Pozvao je pojedince da daju prioritet zdravstvenim problemima i potraže liječničku pomoć ako imaju ustrajale navedene simptome, bez obzira na konvencionalne čimbenike rizika od raka pluća, prenosi N1.

Plin radon, koji se često zanemaruje, doprinosi povećanju broja slučajeva raka pluća kod nepušača, što potiče pozive na opće testiranje i preventivne zakonodavne mjere. Rak pluća, koji se obično povezuje s pušenjem, sada pogađa 15-20 posto pojedinaca koji nikada nisu pušili, najčešće one u 40-im i 50-im godinama života, pokazalo je novo istraživanje, prenosi N1.

Prema američkim medicinskim stručnjacima, porast slučajeva raka pluća kod nepušača vjerojatno je povezan s produljenom izloženošću plinu radonu, bezbojnoj tvari bez mirisa koja se oslobađa prirodnom razgradnjom radioaktivnih materijala pod zemljom. Taj plin može prodrijeti u zgrade, akumulirati se u domovima i plućima bez detekcije, osim ako se ne testira na njegovu prisutnost.

Unatoč preporukama Agencije za zaštitu okoliša SAD-a (EPA) za redovito testiranje radona i mjere ublažavanja, nedavno istraživanje provedeno za Sveobuhvatni centar za rak Sveučilišta Ohio (OSUCCC) otkrilo je alarmantne statistike. Sedamdeset pet posto Amerikanaca nije testiralo svoje domove na radon, a više od polovice ne pokazuje zabrinutost zbog izloženosti tom plinu.

Svatko s plućima može razviti rak pluća. Trebali bismo biti svjesni i zabrinuti zbog izloženosti radonu jer se smatra da je to jedan od vodećih uzroka raka pluća kod nepušača i postoji nešto što možemo učiniti da smanjimo rizik, naglašava Carbone.

Implementacija sustava za sanaciju radona i poboljšanje ventilacije u domovima ključne su preventivne mjere. Simptomi raka pluća, bez obzira na pušačku povijest, uključuju umor, kašalj, bol u prsima i otežano disanje. Rano otkrivanje testiranjem ključno je za uspješno liječenje, piše Zimo.hr.

Dok su testiranja raka pluća usmjerena na visokorizične osobe u dobi od 50 do 80 godina sa značajnom poviješću pušenja, dr. Carbone naglasio je važnost šireg testiranja, posebno za one koji su izloženi pasivnom pušenju, radonu ili profesionalnim opasnostima.

Dr. Carbone zagovarao je zakonodavstvo koje obvezuje testiranje na radon u različitim okruženjima, uključujući škole i radna mjesta, kako bi se ublažili rizici u široj zajednici. Naglasio je kumulativne i odgođene učinke izloženosti radonu, ističući nužnost proaktivnog testiranja radi zaštite od budućih zdravstvenih implikacija.

Današnja neaktivnost mogla bi dovesti do rizika od raka pluća za buduće generacije, s obzirom na to da se učinci izloženosti radonu mogu očitovati desetljećima kasnije, upozorio je dr. Carbone. Plin radon, koji se često zanemaruje, doprinosi povećanju broja slučajeva raka pluća kod nepušača, što potiče pozive na opće testiranje i preventivne zakonodavne mjere. Rak pluća, koji se obično povezuje s pušenjem, sada pogađa 15-20 posto pojedinaca koji nikada nisu pušili, najčešće one u 40-im i 50-im godinama života, pokazalo je novo istraživanje, prenosi N1.

Prema američkim medicinskim stručnjacima, porast slučajeva raka pluća kod nepušača vjerojatno je povezan s produljenom izloženošću plinu radonu, bezbojnoj tvari bez mirisa koja se oslobađa prirodnom razgradnjom radioaktivnih materijala pod zemljom. Taj plin može prodrijeti u zgrade, akumulirati se u domovima i plućima bez detekcije, osim ako se ne testira na njegovu prisutnost.

Unatoč preporukama Agencije za zaštitu okoliša SAD-a (EPA) za redovito testiranje radona i mjere ublažavanja, nedavno istraživanje provedeno za Sveobuhvatni centar za rak Sveučilišta Ohio (OSUCCC) otkrilo je alarmantne statistike. Sedamdeset pet posto Amerikanaca nije testiralo svoje domove na radon, a više od polovice ne pokazuje zabrinutost zbog izloženosti tom plinu.
